Korean Delagation Brings Solar Lamps to Families in Mindanao through "All Lights Project"

Vice Mayor Tito Balazon Sr. who received the solar lanterns in behalf of the families from local communities such as Batian, Zion and Ticulab in Maitum, Sarangani thanked GPFF and the Korean Cultural Exchange Delegation for helping uplift the lives of Filipino families in remote areas that have no access to electricity.
The turn over ceremony took place during the 3-day Global Peace Leadership Exchange in Sarangani Province, Mindanao which was attended by 229 people including indigent families, civic leaders, local leaders of Sarangani and Korean cultural exchange delegates.
During the conference, Saranggani Governor Hon. Rene Miguel Dominguez, who was inspired by GPFF’s vision,
One hundred solar lanterns were turned over to indigent families from three local communities in Sarangani, Mindanao on a ceremony during the 2nd Philippine-Korea Global Peace Leadership Exchange on December 19-22, 2011.
warmly welcomed GPFF team and the Korean participants. Hon. Dominguez was so positive and thankful that the province was chosen as a venue for GPLE and recipient for All Lights Project. He also led the brotherhood and sisterhood ceremony between the local and Korean delegates as he signed and exchanged certificates with Mr. In Teck Sue, Vice President of GPFF- Korea.
Being the “Tuna Capital of the Philippines,” the participants visited the tuna sea port and they were inspired to see the actual market and plant. They also went for a courtesy call with Hon. James Victor Yap Sr., Mayor of Glan, Sarangani Province. Another highlight is when the delegates were able to meet the famous world boxing champion, Global Peace Festival supporter and now Sarangani Congressman, Hon. Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao who hosted a dinner buffet to welcome the GPLE delegates.
As a unique project which aims to assist families in remote communities, All Lights Project obtained the support and commitment of Sarangani Government to further what they have received, same as for the future GPFF projects in Mindanao. Interfaith and tribal leaders expressed their support and even willingness to host an Interfaith Conference as to share the vision of One Family Under God, while the Department of Education also conveyed to endorse GPFF’s Peace Education. Moreover, the Office of Congressman Emmanuel Pacquiao is willing to partner with GPFF for the people of Sarangani to become effective peacemakers and peace builders.
Setting forth its initial success, the 3nd Philippine-Korea Global Peace Leadership Exchange and All Lights Project will be held on February 2012 at Rizal Province in Southern Luzon, Philippines.
