GPFF Formally Launches GLOB-A.L.S. as
Department of Education's Service Provider

Following the accreditation as a Service Provider, Global Peace Festival Foundation-Philippines (GPFF-Philippines) in cooperation with the Department of Education (DepEd) launched GlobALS, GPFF-Philippines’ Alternative Learning System Accreditation and Equivalency (ALS-A&E) program along with local community leaders and partners at Torre Venezia Function Room in Quezon City on  June 1, 2011.

With the tagline, “Bringing Global Peace in the Communities through Alternative Learning System,” GlobALS will provide two levels of certification on learning and achievement for elementary and secondary school.  The goal is to provide quality and flexible alternative mode of education for out of school children, youth and adults that is comparable and equivalent to the formal basic education instruction.

In his keynote speech, Mr. James Flynn, International Vice President of Global Peace Festival Foundation stressed that, “the launching has been a meaningful occasion because of partnerships formed for education.”

In the Philippines, GPFF continues to make significant impact through its existing projects and initiatives which are committed to a multi-sector collaborative approach and works with a wide range of partners by celebrating and promoting the vision of “One Family Under God” through building interfaith partnerships, vibrant families and a culture of service and peace.

“Education empowers us, it gives us wings to explore who we are as human beings, express our creativity, learn science and technology and realize our potentials; as we look to each other as a family, naturally we want to take care for each other, and the greatest service that we can render is share the tools of empowerment, which is exactly what the program is about,” Flynn added.

During the program¸ stakeholders and partners from different religious backgrounds and causes rallied their support to GPFF-ALS as well as future projects and initiatives of GPFF in the local communities.

Present in the launching are the multi- sector stakeholders, partners and guest of honors namely: Department of Education-Alternative Learning System Division (DepEd ALS); Barangay Council of Barangay Culiat; Quezon City, Barangay Council of Barangay Talipapa, Caloocan City; Barangay Council of Barangay Ibaba, Malabon City; Barangay Council of Barangay North Fairview, Quezon City; Rahma Quranic Learning Center and Mosque Foundation; Alsalam Active Womens Association (ALSAWA); United North Fairview Homeowners Association; Inc., School of Education and Applied Studies from DLSU-College of St. Benilde; United Nations Associations of the Philippines; Global Peace Youth Corps; Global Peace Association and Service For Peace Philippines.
