300 Student Leaders Joined the SLC 2011

Three hundred student leaders from the different colleges of the University of Makati have flocked to the auditorium to attend the Student Leadership Conference 2011 last 17th of February with the theme: A New Paradigm of Campus Leadership towards Realizing a Culture of Peace.  This event is part of the month-long celebration of the forthcoming UMak foundation day on March 1st   that also commemorates the university’s 2nd Global Peace Festival Day Declaration of 2010.

Two dynamic guest speakers have spoken on two important topics. The first one to speak was Ms. Grace Rallos of the Rotary Club of Makati - Olympia Chapter; she talked about the role of the young generation in promoting peace by beginning from themselves. The second guest speaker was Dr.  Edmon Pacson, National Director of the Global Peace Youth Corps (GPYC) Philippines, who dynamically discussed about campus leadership and introduced GPYC to the participants.

Twelve student leaders of the university were awarded by GPYC Philippines as Global Youth Ambassadors for Peace. These chosen young leaders have demonstrated the qualities and ideals of the Global Peace Youth Corps. The 12 awardees were all very happy and honored to be selected.

The SLC was organized by the university’s Supreme Student Government and the College of Computer Science Student Council (SSG-CCS) in collaboration with the GPYC Philippines, and the GPF Foundation Philippines.
