2012 Global Poomashi to Enhance Global Citizenship in the Philippines
The 2012 Global Poomashi will be held in Manila and Nueva Ecija from July 3-10, 2012. Participating in this 4th service are 32 South Koreans and 32 Filipinos, all college and university students. They will undergo a week-long global exchange program organized by the Global Peace Youth Corps (GPYC) chapters of Korea and Philippines.

“Poomashi” is a Korean word, which means “exchange of work”. The Global Poomashi project was created by GPYC Korea in order to pursue the vision, “One Family under God,” by sending Korean youths to other countries where they work together with local youths addressing social issues, and eventually recognizing each other’s value as members of the same human family. This altruistic effort has been extended to Kenya, Nepal, Mongolia, and now the Philippines.
With the theme, “Enhancing Global Citizenship,” Global Poomashi will engage the delegates in community service (multi-purpose center construction in 3 sitios of Nueva Ecija); project management forum with AIESEC in the Philippines; Ecobag project with SM Cares (for the benefit of the children residing in Alllights Villages); intercultural dialogue; academic exchange; and, recreational activities.
The 2012 Global Poomashi is organized by GPYC Korea and GPYC Philippines, and in partnership with Global Peace Festival Foundation (GPFF) Philippines, the Alllights Village Project, AIESEC in the Philippines and SM Cares.
Global Poomashi is extending their “altruistic effort” to other countries as far as Kenya, Nepal, and Mongolia.
The 4th Global Poomashi will be held in the Philippines on July 3-10, 2012.
